Adamson Falcons Dominate Over Maroons

The opening weekend of the UAAP Season 76 continues with a bang as the Adamson Falcons go against the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons. This head to head battle took place last Sunday, June 30, 2013 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The Mall of Asia Arena’s crowd has painted the venue in the Maroon and Blue as students and alumni gather together and proudly support their teams with a booming scream and cheers. The energy of the venue never seems to fade as players take pride in leading their Universities in this competition.

Adamson Soaring Falcons gave justice to their names as their soared over the Fighting Maroons during their opening game. The Adamson Falcon’s coach was quite pleased with his team’s performance. He mentioned that everybody expects them to perform well and doesn’t wish to disappoint as they are the host team for the season.

The game opens to a slow start as both teams warm up for the first quarter. However, the Adamson Falcons slowly began to rise as they accumulated a total of 8 points during the last 2 minutes, resulting to a score of 18-13 during the first quarter.

The Falcons continued to dominate the second quarter as Roider Cabrera and Harry Petilos alternately scored the points during the first half of the quarter. Also, Jukipli scored 8 points during the latter half of the period, greatly contributing to the team’s performance.  Still, Adamson remained with an 8-point lead; final score for this quarter, 36-28.

The Fighting Maroons desperately tried to cope with the leading team as they try to rev up their game during the third quarter. However, Adamson Falsons’ energy was too much for them to handle as they advanced with an 11-point lead, giving a result of 60-49 for the third quarter. Results were basically the same throughout the fourth quarter and ending the game with a whopping victory for the Falcons.

Despite his team’s loss, Sam Marata came out as the leading scorer of the game with a stunning 20 points. Adamson Falcons’s Jericho Cruz came in next with 19 points.
